A Flobberworm and a Winner!

Hey friends!

Hope this finds you enjoying the changing season. Has anyone out there had a snow flurry yet? Definitely nothing close here in Texas. We haven’t even had our first frost. Although, Texas weather can be C-R-A-Z-Y! I’ve literally seen two white Christmases (that’s one more than I had growing up in the Portland area), a white Thanksgiving, a white Valentines Day, AND a white EASTER! So, yeah, you just never know in this part of the country.

We might not get much snow but we do have our share of leaves! Here are two of my daughters, about ten years ago!

Well, I promised to giveaway some “Poisoned Apple” perfume (from Bookpourri) in celebration of the release of my Snow White retelling, For Such a Time as This. I had the unfortunate timing of launching a book and being part of a blog hop while on vacation in Florida for our 29th anniversary! Neither of those things are actually unfortunate, of course, but they really didn’t coordinate very well together! This means I’m behind on several things, one of which is this giveaway. And for those of you that are awaiting my retelling for FREE (because you’ve subscribed to my newsletter), I’m still working on that, so thanks for your patience).

Congrats to Kat from “Sparks of Ember“, you’re my winner! I’ll be mailing you your lovely perfume soon! You guys need to check out her beautiful blog, too! Tons of reviews and great writing just waiting for you!

Whew! Feels good to get caught up 🙂

You know what else feels good? A new haircut 😀 I came home from our Florida vacation feeling like a Flobberworm. My hair, my skin, my-um-thighs…all of them felt like YUCK after a week of eating off of my norm of Paleo/Gluten-free.

Flobberworm Face!

Ya’ll…I have NO metabolism anymore. LESS THAN ZERO. If I indulge for more than a day my body goes haywire! Now that I’m home, I’m trying to walk the straight and narrow 90% of the time, so I can enjoy the holiday parties (which, fortunately for this Flobberworm, don’t last for a week at a time).

One thing I decided to do to spruce things up was get a new haircut! Did I mention that my middle daughter also moved home while I was in Florida?! (Yeah, well, we planned the Florida trip before she got engaged and decided to move back). Of course, we are thrilled to have her home for her last 7 months of singleness, and we are excited to add another son-in-law to the family!

Anyhoo, my daughter is a cosmetologist (score!), which means I get the benefit of hair therapy when needed (at least, now that she’s home I do!). In her capable hands, I went from feeling like a Flobberworm to feeling pretty 😉 Got my first ever Brazilian Blowout for my wavy hair, plus color and highlights. Yeah, the works. Now I’m ready for the holidays! Have you ever done something drastic to your hair? I know, I know, bangs aren’t really that drastic but it’s the most I’ve done in quite awhile to change things up.

The new do, and the hair magician that performed the magic <3 (aka, my daughter, Delaney).

In case you missed it, let me remind you about the Rafflecopter giveaway (Kindle Fire and Amazon gift cards!) currently happening with my publisher. Below is a list of the entire blog hop (the more you visit, the more entries you receive–plus lots of giveaways from each author). So, check it out! It is Mountain Brook Ink‘s virtual hug and ‘thank you’ to all of our readers! Authors will not be promoting their books, but rather sharing their holiday stories, traditions, and/or recipes. Lots of fun to be had!

So…snow? Has anyone out there been thusly blessed? And what are you guys reading this fall? I’m currently re-listening to all the Harry Potter books. Unfortunately, I don’t have tons of time to actually read but I do have quite a pile awaiting me.

Please note that some links will NOT be live until their designated stop date! But please poke around the authors’ websites and blogs while you’re waiting for that special post! The Rafflecopter should be found in each person’s post, as well!

  1. Aw, thanks for the perfume and the lovely shout out. ^_^

Your hair looks great! And you’ve got your own personal stylist! 😉 lol

For many, many years I had extremely long hair – pretty much my entire life it was past my waist, around thigh-length. The two times had had cut it was only to mid-back. I even spent a couple of years trying everything I could come up with to get it knee-length but it never happened. Apparently thigh-length was my maximum length. I actually blogged about the *big* drastic thing I did to my hair on my very old livejournal account. What’s funny is since then I’ve kept my hair about that length or even a bit shorter, as well as done highlights regularly, and finally taken the leap to get that purple underlayer this summer. So even though it wasn’t the greatest experience, I’m glad I did it because I’ve been gradually braver since then. 🙂

    1. Congrats, Kat! Wow…thigh length definitely gives you bragging rights, LOL! I’m headed to check out these links to see the transformation 🙌🏼👌🏻. I love your brave purple hair, too! My daughter had teal for the past six months or more. I haven’t been that brave yet 😉

    2. Okay! That was fun to read, what an adventure… Getting approached like you did! I have to say, you do look great with the pink streaks and the layers, but you have gorgeous skin and definitely don’t need make up! I hope they donated all that beautiful hair they cut off to Locks of Love or something. Thanks for sharing!
