Meet the Fam

It’s just under a week before The Genesis Tree is birthed into the world of books! Through the first part of June you can preorder your Kindle version at a discounted rate, so don’t miss out ๐Ÿ˜€ Have you participated in the Rafflecopter giveaway (major cha-ching up for grabs!)? There are some serious prizes to be awarded at the Facebook virtual party so don’t miss that either!

I thought I’d share a little montage of the Larcen family as well as a few other characters. There are some major twists and turns in this final installment so I don’t want to give anything away…which makes it hard to say much about the story! I’ve heard from several reviewers that writing a review without any spoilers is pretty tricky too.

But it’s fun to put a face to the names, so I wanted to bring back some pictures of the family and share some new ones as well. There’s so much to get excited about with this story and I CANNOT wait to share it with you guys!

First of all, the stars of the trilogy…

The oldest four siblings of the Larcen family really learn to depend on each other through each dangerous adventure. Did you know that two of the four pictured are loosely based on real individuals? Care to take a guess which ones?

Next up are the Larcen adults. Mom and Dad: kidnapped by Trolls in The Tethered World. Uncle Daniel: went MIA in the Vietnam war until his appearance inย The Flaming Sword. Aunt Jules: the Irish aunt that never lost hope in her husband Daniel’s return. Two of these characters are loosely based on friends of mine. Can you guess which ones they are?

Let’s not forget the two littlest Larcens and good-natured Uncle Brent. He plays a bigger roll in The Genesis Tree too! One of these three characters is based on a real person. Any guesses?

How about some of the bad dudes? The nasty Trolls and evil Gargoyles are teamed up again in The Genesis Tree. Thankfully, I don’t personally know anyone/thing from either of these creature groups.

Of course, the setting plays a major role in any story. I bet you can’t guess which of these places are real destinations that I included in my stories (*wink*wink*).

The Genesis Tree introduces readers to one of my favorite cities: Portland, Oregon. Part of the story takes place in Pioneer Courthouse Square. On any ol’ day you’ll find people sitting on the steps, milling about with Starbucks, or waiting in line at the food trucks.

Another important place that you’ll visit in The Genesis Tree is Powell’s City of Books. This bookstore takes up an entire city block and is several stories high! Each level is color-coded ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally, I’m going to share two rare photos with you. The first is of Mr. Marshall, the Larcen’s neighbor. After everything that happened to him in The Genesis Tree, he’s not particularly happy about the attention–let alone getting his picture taken. At least I convinced him to put out his cigar so I could get a decent shot.

And finally, a rare photo that Sadie shared with me. Since everyone seems insanely curious about her Nephilim ‘friend’, Prince Alexander, she did manage to get a picture of him–somehow–and put it in her scrapbook.

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know these characters over the course of the trilogy. They’ve certainly become good friends of mine!

  1. Yay for pictures! Love love love them. Loved this last book too! What’s in store next in your writing journey, my friend?

    1. Thank you! I’ve got a few stories that I’ve started but nothing has taken precedence. I am going to enter a fairytale retelling of Snow White (a novella length tale).

  2. I loved the Tethered World!!! I can see most of your charactors alive in our daily lives, so I cannot guess which ones are based on real people.

  3. Yes! Love it all. I think Brock being based loosely on a real (and beloved!) person is a safe bet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If I had to venture a guess, I’d say Sadie is too. And I just love picturing Aunt Jules as my fave Mrs. Linda. I have a wacky aunt, so I tend to picture her with red hair. All the rest have me stumped.

  4. Very interesting! I usually picture people in my mind as I am reading a book. I don’t think I had any of these pictured, but I guess my view was a little blurry. LOL!

  5. This is so great! To have faces to the characters in the books makes them more relatable.
