Life 101…Diary of a Lonely Blog

Hello!

Heather’s blog here. Thought it might be helpful if I just went ahead and let her kind and patient readers know why she hasn’t had much to say these days. Grant it, I’m not exactly thrilled with her shutting me out–good reasons or not–but I try not to complain.

How I feel about being ignored.
How I feel about being ignored.

Seems Heather has had an intense spring. Her son who is autistic and an inspiration for Brock, (a character in The Tethered World), has been in and out of the hospital. He is currently home, thank the Lord, and doing much better but needs to get back into a program that allows him to get out of the house and socialize each day. auntjulesquotecollage

Then there’s been edits for Heather’s second book, The Flaming Sword. She’s been working closely with an awesome editor on getting every little detail ironed out. It recently went from editor to publisher and back to Heather for the finishing touches!

Add to that, Heather’s other job…that of ballet teacher. A year of ballet equals a spring recital and–whew!–that big event only recently past.

Let’s not forget the youngest of Heather’s four kiddos graduating from high school! Besides the usual flurry of rehearsals, recitals, and performances accompanying said high schooler, there was a lot of extra activity surrounding this graduation milestone!

What a beauty!
Looks official!

And did I mention Book 3, The Genesis Tree? It’s in its early gestational period and causes Heather to lose sleep at night. Unfortunately, her brain kicks into creative-mode when she lays her head on her pillow, leading to “never-enough-sleep” syndrome.

So…what’s a blog to do? As you can see, she has little time for me! Though she made a commitment to visit me regularly, I’ve graciously overlooked her absence in light of so many demands. But enough is enough, y’know? I just had to speak up and be heard, with or without Heather’s help.

Sorry to dump on all of you in this way but I needed a little sympathy. Okay, okay…I was lonely. I needed more than sympathy. I needed companionship! Someone to listen to me vent. Someone who might care to interact a little with me and keep me from becoming obsolete like a VCR or pay phone. I AM BLOG, HEAR ME ROAR! BLOGS MATTER! BLOGS ARE PEOPLE TOO!

All right, maybe I’m getting carried away…

On a happier note, I’ve been made aware that there will SOON be an announcement about the release of both an audiobook for The Tethered World AND a cover reveal for The Flaming Sword! If you want the earliest peek at the cover, you should join Heather’s newsletter. She is even more infrequent with her newsletter (says she doesn’t like to bother people’s inboxes for no good reason) than she is with myself (*ahem*).

Well, I feel much better now that I’ve got all this off my chest. I truly thank you for your support and patience as Heather figures out how to work me back in to her life. Do you guys have any suggestions? Maybe she will find time to at least read comments that are left here.

Hey Heather! Maybe you should have your people call my people and we can set up a nice coffee date. And maybe a scandalous blog post or something crazy involving hair scrunchies and shoulder pads!

Yeah…just seeing if she’s paying any attention whatsoever.
